Several years ago I created a series of Light Paintings inspired by my favourite sport:

Formula 1

I am a MASSIVE fan of the sport, and I regularly attend races with my brother.

For this project I used an ‘optic fiber brush’ which I added coloured gels to in order to influence the colour of the various strands of light. It was then up to me to move the tool around in the darkness in such a way that it generated flowing lines of light during each long exposure. Light Painting felt like a great medium through which to explore themes such as: colour, speed, and movement (all vital ingredients in F1). I’ll be revisiting this theme again soon as it has a huge amount of creative potential I feel…
